Wondering where to start?
Finding a counselor can be confusing. There are so many variables to think about. How do you know what questions to ask as you look for the right fit for you? And, once you've found someone, how do you get started?
Below, you'll find a questionnaire that will help clarify what you're looking for and narrow down your search. After you complete this form, I'll get in touch, and we can talk about whether we're a good fit or if I can provide some recommendations.
First, though, I do want to make one important point. Those who research how and why therapy works have found that the most important factor for positive therapeutic change, by far, is the relationship between client and counselor. There are other factors you may want to consider, but make sure you find someone you connect with. And keep in mind that having one or more sessions with someone doesn't mean you're committed for life. You can only get so much from a website or 15-minute consultation, so remember that you can change therapists at any time if things aren't clicking.
